2010 Salisbury Club Championship

FORMAT: 6 Rounds/Swiss USCF Rated G/120


WHEN: Saturday October 23, Sunday October 24 and Sunday October 31.

WHERE: The Holly Center, 926 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD (rear health center training rooms).

SCHEDULE: Saturday 10/23: 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: set-up (help is appreciated)
9:00 AM - 9:45 AM: Registration and check in
10:00 AM – Round 1, 3:30 PM – Round 2
Sunday 10/24: 10:00 AM – Round 3, 3:30 PM – Round 4 (@ conclusion of round: break-down; help is appreciated)
Sunday 10/31: 9:30 AM - Round 5, 3:00 PM - Round 6 (@ conclusion: awards & break-down; help is appreciated)

FEES: $35.00……… Prizes will be based on the following after expenses (room fees, rating fees, possible TD fees if needed & $5.00 into club kitty for yearly dues, trophy engraving etc….): Please pay cash to Ken (no checks).

PRIZES:
1st: 50% + Trophy
2nd: 30%
3rd: 15%
Upset (draws count for ½): 5%

Tie-Breaks: Cash prizes will be split. If tie is for 1st place, there will be a one game (speed) play-off game to determine trophy recipient (if a tie for first, all 1st place winners will be noted on trophy: trophy recipient will be noted with an*).


BYES: Two ½ point byes are available for any round (s)…but they MUST be requested prior to the close of registration (as soon a possible would be nice).

In addition, we will be having a travel set donated as well as some chess “glassware” and possibly other items for surprise giveaways or auctions. Anyone who has any chess items that they would like to sell or trade, please bring them in for set-up in the skittles room. I may even have a surprise raffle or two or silent auction for some additional chess items from my collection.

Charlie has had the club trophy collecting dust at his home for awhile now….time for someone else to buy some “pledge” and keep it clean for a year!

Each year I try to do a little something different or add new features. With 6 rounds and the competitive nature of our club, one or even two losses may not count you out of first place! I welcome suggestions for next year’s event!
